Color had been on my mind lately. I am trying to explore new ways of playing with color in my work. Trying out new pigments, hues, or discovering how color changes between mediums, etc.
My home is full of it: Honey-orange walls, surf's-up-blue kitchen cabinets, a hippie-purple hallway, pink cozy feminine bedroom with moss-green velvet bedding, woven rainbow textiles, a 70's spring-green wallpapered bathroom! (Should I paint my refrigerator pink?!) My wardrobe is all color and print. My vintage and jewelry collection inspires me endlessly.
I have been planting in the garden and I await lapis-irises, sunburst-lilies, and we are surrounded by violets, dandelions, and lilacs right now. I am often thinking about color and it's effect on my mood. How I chose certain colors for my paintings or to dress in a certain color scheme based on my mood.
Well today I was watching some vintage clothing content on YouTube (so exciting, I know.) And the woman mentioned something she had seen on TikTok and she linked to the video (dispite my lack of social media, I was able to watch it.) It was fantastic! She was discussing the color blue from a historical and cultural perspective! I watched her videos on green, purple, yellow and so on. They were all so interesting! I especially loved the one on the color pink (and the politics of pink!)
So, if you are a color nerd as it pertains to art, fashion, interior design or if you have a thirst for random knowledge.... Please watch all of this woman's videos on each individual color!
