Today I painted another door mural, this time to spruce up the coat closet. This mural was done completely with leftover interior paints that were lying around. I wanted something loose and bold. I painted this quickly, (most of that time was spent mixing cans of house paint) in an hour and 15 mins. It felt good to just throw paint around on a slightly larger scale than I normally allow and I think I need to do this more, maybe on loose canvas next time? Scrap wood?
I need to get painting large scale like this because I so enjoyed the movement of it. Some people might be surprised, but my small artworks are actually really challenging to make! I have to imply dimension, light, shadow, and color in a really small area. There isn't much room for mistakes either. A big canvas means more room to play! And a swipe of a large brush can get it done so much faster.
I still have two more interior doors left, plus I've wanted to do the outside front door for ages! Can't wait!

Nothing like doing something new and out of the ordinary to get you out of that so-many-ideas-but-no-desire-to-create funk!
